David is a quantum expert who has given written and oral evidence in the Technology and Construction Court. David has produced expert quantum and advisory reports for instructing solicitors, insurance providers, and contractors within the infrastructure, natural resources, energy, and property sectors.
David has experience of mega-project disputes both in the UK and internationally and experience of providing opinion in litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation proceedings. David has provided expert opinion in respect of the valuation of measured works, variation entitlement and quantification, disruption claims, prolongation costs and the recovery of overheads and loss of profit. David has experience of quantifying and estimating the cost of remedial schemes following the identification of defective or non-compliant works.
David is a chartered quantity surveyor who holds a post-graduate diploma in quantity surveying and an LLM in construction law. David has delivered internal and external seminars and mentored candidates undertaking the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors examination process.
Prior to working within the dispute resolution field, David worked for a multi-disciplinary consultancy as a quantity surveyor and was responsible for producing feasibility estimates, advising on procurement options and contract options, and evaluation of tenders. David has undertaken valuations, assessment of variations and expenditure of provisional sums, loss and expense claims and final account valuations.
David has also been engaged on distressed projects where he has advised on contractual entitlement, claim submissions, claim methodology, valuation of works and cost to complete assessments.
David has knowledge and understanding of JCT, NEC, FIDIC and other bespoke forms of contract.
Outside of work, David’s time is largely taken up by his two young daughters and cocker spaniel. When time allows, he enjoys playing golf, football and is a keen car enthusiast.
